Very interesting David, one ko-eled for around 2 minutes this morning in Chapman, the first time I’ve heard this in 2019, except for a couple of ko-els on 2 February.

As I’ve written before, including in last season’s summary in CBN, it is unclear to me why they would revert to this call (and also continue to make their other ones) so late in their breeding season.

After a busy December, Koels have pretty well disappeared from around my place in Deakin.  Since I returned from Broulee 3 weeks ago, no observations inc;uding no fledglings.

But this morning there is a male making the ko-el call repeatedly.

Also in recent days, a family group of three Black Cockatoos has found the banksia in my front yard rather appealing.
