Hi Bill,
This is an out-of-the-blue contact, but I am wondering if you can help.
I facilitate a project on King Island, Tasmania, called Wings on King - a project of the King Island Natural Resource Management Group and BirdLife Australia. It is a bird monitoring project with over 60 sites situated across the island. Here's the website
for more information:

With a very small community and few experienced birders on the island, we need help from visitors who are experienced. Of course we promote each organised survey weekend through BirdLife, but I am wondering if your organisation would assist us by promoting
the project directly to your members also. It just may be something they are interested in doing. Birding here is very good and interesting. We have 9 endemic subspecies - 2 critically endangered and 2 vulnerable, have lots of migratory birds visiting,
our coast is a KBA for shorebirds and our largest river estuary a RAMSAR wetland. So lots happening birdwise.
This autumn we are also working with the King Island Cultural Centre to hold the inaugural Festival of Art Culture and Environment of King Island (FACE). The theme is 'Birds in Our Lives.' There will be two art exhibitions running over the time of the survey
culminating in an art auction. Artists include Michael Leunig and a number of others, so there is an extra incentive to come this autumn.
In the hopes that you may be able to assist, I have attached a poster.
Kind regards and many thanks for considering this
