These are young Common Starlings. They are in transition from the all brown juvenile stage to the first adult non breeding. Over time the white spots wear off, to give the glossy black plumage.

These birds were seen over Stoney Creek Nature Reserve on 18 Feb 2014.  There were five in the group.  Could someone id them?
