Good afternoon all,
A reminder that when giving reports for both White-throated Needletails
(Spine-tailed Swifts) and Pacific Swifts (Fork-tailed Swifts) to be as
precise as possible with the location, date and number of birds seen as
this chat line I believe is monitored by Mike Tarburton, an authority on
swifts and swiftlets and who keeps yearly logs of all these reports.
Mike does a yearly report on all these records which does get published
on Birding-aus and possibly other sites as well. Sites that we may know
well won't be known to Mike.
To add to the list of reports from this morning, I had one solitary
Pacific Swift, probably the "tail end Charlie" of those reported by Ash
and others on the north side over my house in Kaleen heading in a
westerly direction. It is on my GBS chart. With all the stormy weather
of late I have been keeping an eye out but for some reason they don't
seem to like flying over my house!!
