The group I watched at Hughes were feeding on lerp, of which there was a lot, rather than fruit or seeds, Not that there might not be a lot in other places…..

I went for a jog around the golf course for the first time in a few weeks today and was surprised to see 50-60 SPs (mainly in small flocks of 4-6) around the course. They seemed to be flying between trees rather than flying over or arriving/departing.
I interpret this as them having bred in the Red Hill area, then staying around. I think it’s unlikely they are dispersing to feed post breeding because I don’t see why they would fly further south to feed when the area doesn’t seem to be
a food hot spot atm (some wattles with seeds around and lerps, but Hughes and Garran gardens around the course don’t seem to be full of fruit trees or native plants with seeds).
