Hi All,

I wanted to thank several people for recent posts to the chatline regarding local sightings -
  • Ash Allnut - Musk Lorikeets in Watson
  • Robin Hide - Superb Parrots in Ainslie
  • Those who reported the Little Egret at Jerrabomberra Wetlands
Joh Dunn and I visited Watson and Ainslie yesterday and were successful  in finding the Musk Lorikeets and many Superb Parrots.
  • We saw four Musk Lorikeets and managed some photos although the birds were feeding very high in the flowering Eucalypt (in poor light) and access to the tree was limited.
  • Corroboree Park was a hive of activity with Superb Parrots all over the place. There were many young birds and the birds were moving around quite a bit. Most were feeding on lerps in the eucalypts, but a few were feeding on the ground too. In addition to the Superbs, highlights in Ainslie were three Gang Gangs, a Tawny Frogmouth and a Satin Bowerbird.

Closer to home (for me) at Forde Ponds
  • a family of four very young Australasian Grebe chicks and
  • a Dollarbird family - two adults and one fledgling being fed.
  • Australian Spotted Crake
A visit to Campbell Park last week produced a real highlight (and a first for us in the ACT)
  • a family of White-browed Woodswallows - 2 juveniles (as recorded by others on Ebird)
Photos for those interested on Flickr and Instagram -

Cheers
Julie
