Yes, HBW/BLI and WLAB, the national list for conservation purposes, uses ‘Australasian Figbird’, as does ABG etc. WLAB uses ‘Green Figbird’ for
the eastern Australian subspecies, although rather confusingly HBW/BLI uses ‘Grey-breasted Figbird’.

Sure that one is an
Olive-backed Oriole,
as you say. To clarify, the
Olive-backed Oriole
is a sort of common summer migrant to our area and entirely expected there at this time. A Figbird (do any books call it Australasian Figbird?) is not a regular, nor expected
here, although not really that far out of range. Their usual calls are different.

I heard this bird calling just to the right of the Ardea Hide entrance this morning. I believe it is where the Australasian Figbird has been seen but on playing the Morecambe eGuide
this bird didn't sound like a Figbird. Also the bill seems too slender to be a FB. Can someone confirm this one to be the Olive-backed Oriole or otherwise please.
