I did see a Dusky 4 days ago. It flew out of the trees near Windrmere cottage. Perhaps there is a nest and the parents have not moved on with the flock

I took a brief trip to the Hoskinstown Plain this morning, primarily to check on the Woodswallow situation.  I was unable to see or hear a single Woodswallow, not even a Dusky, in my visit.

However I did see a Horsfield's Bushlark (call me a traditionalist) singing beautifully on a fence near the corner of Briars Sharrow and Plains Roads.  This is only the second bird of this species I have seen in 12 years living in Carwoola.

There was quite a lot of surface water around in many areas and Foxlow Lagoon is close to capacity.  In the absence of any exposed mud the shorebirds - Avocets, Stilts, Plovers and even Lapwings - all seem to have departed.
