The survey was conducted in fine but overcast conditions on 5 December by myself and visitor Claes. Callum Brae is very dry, and the bird count was down on usual results. Rainbow Lorikeets were more numerous than usual, and several were looking into hollows, but some usual suspects, such as White-throated Treecreepers and Red-rumped Parrots, failed to put in an appearance. All survey sites were quiet, with no more than 10 species at each site. A total of 39 species for the morning, and for new-ish birder Claes it was a successful morning, with eight new species, and great views of White-throated Gerygone, Dollarbird and the Rainbow Lorikeets.
