Hi all
An interesting few weeks at home recently. Three new species added to the
Hawker house list.
At last, I've been able to add Tawny Frogmouth! I know of a breeding pair about
150-200m away at the edge of the reserve at the top of Dungowan St. After
almost eight years of living here, I heard a bird calling in the front yard.
Next came an Australian Owlet-nightjar calling in the street. I've heard them
calling from hollows up in the Pinnacle NR not too far away.
Both species heard at around three or four o'clock in the morning. I didn't
realise the small benefits that insomnia would bring!!
Lastly, just yesterday, a male Satin Flycatcher spent some time in the street,
presumably on his way to the mountain forests.
House list up to 85.
Cheers
Anthony
