Hello subscribers,
Leo Joseph, our speaker on
Who Doesn’t Like A Change of Scientific Names Every Now and Then? Science, taxonomy, nomenclature and Australian birds at COG’s Wednesday evening’s meeting has made the following
suggestion:
If members have a question about why a change of a scientific name of an Australian bird has been suggested recently, especially if it seems to make no apparent sense, or why there seems to be indecision about one name or other, he is happy to try and
deal with it in the question time after the talk.
An example may be “why Lichenostomus has disappeared except for just two species in recent years”.
Could you please be ready to ask your question on the night and Leo will try to address a few if members have them? If any are left over after the meeting he will try and get to them during tea/coffee after the meeting.
