In preparation for the COG outing to Kelly Rd on 9 Sept, I ventured out there this morning with Anne C. We turned onto Kelly Rd at first spot where it joins the Monaro Highway, and from the first corner we could see birds further to our left
along the fence. A wander along the fenceline and railway line (about 500m), yielded brown treecreepers, diamond firetails and red-browed finches among others. We made several stops along the road, walking a similar distance each time, wherever there were
clumps of trees. The best sighting further along the road was a male white-winged triller. In the same area a restless flycatcher was calling, but we couldn't locate it. Large numbers of eastern rosellas were seen in various places. 32 species in total -
well worth a visit, and hopefully even more in a few weeks time.
