At the ANU, 13:00 Hrs today, as the sun broke through and the wind dropped for a couple of minutes  a gulping (my collective noun) of at least 50, perhaps closer to 100 Welcome Swallows soaring to around 15 metres and swooping to within 3 metres above the ground, some skimming within centimetres of the turf on the oval just below the library. An uplifting sight on a bleak day.
