The lower eastern slopes of Mt Ainslie (9 sites) were surveyed by Robin Hide and Michael Lenz on Sunday, 24 June 2018. it was a cold but unusually still, fine morning.
20 species were recorded at sites and a further 12 between sites. We failed to find any mixed feeding flocks. The most widespread species were Crimson Rosella, Spotted Pardalote and Noisy Miner (at 8 sites) and Striated Pardalote (at 7 sites).
Overall small birds were largely absent or only present in small numbers. Of interest: 20 Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoos made their way in small parties from nearby pines into the survey area; 1 bird each of White-naped and Brown-headed Honeyeater and Golden
Whistler.
