Yes, I know.  I hate these too, but …

 

On the lower slopes of Red Hill this afternoon, I saw a bird that I first thought was a Rufous Whistler, but as I thought about it, I realised that it wasn’t – at least I don’t think it was.

 

It was about the size of a whistler, but the characteristics didn’t gel.  Its bill was sharper than I associate with a whistler.  Its lower breast and belly were reddy-brown (quite rufous) but it was not a male RW – no mask.  Also, it was heavily streaked up its belly and breast right up under its chin.  Its back and wings, as I recall, were greyish.

 

I admit to being stumped.
