Mention of Grey Butcherbirds reminds me that earlier this year I came
home to find a juvenile Grey Butcherbird on the ground in the carport.
It flew up and perched on the wire for several minutes before it
disappeared after I had turned my back. It emerged from what I loosely
describe as our citrus grove to perch once again on the wires. A few
seconds later an adult bird also emerged and perched next to the
juvenile with what appeared to be one of those stinking shield bugs
which it proceeded to feed to the youngster. Would like to encourage
more of that given the bugs were here in plague proportions this year.
The butcherbirds have been heard calling on a fairly regular basis in
the area (Holder) since then.

Cheers

Rod
