The woodland survey of the lower eastern slopes of Mt Ainslie was undertaken on 21 March 2018. The morning was mostly overcast, with light wind, increasing towards the end of the survey to 25 km/h. All grassed areas are heavily overgrazed by kangaroos with many of the grazers present throughout much of the area. Species numbers per site (of 9) ranged from 1 to 9 (average 4.7). Notably small bush birds were largely absent at sites. However, towards the northern end with a better understory 2 larger MFFs were encountered (but not within sites). One of those included 14 species. The most widespread species were Crimson Rosella and Noisy Miner (each at 6 sites).

Species of interest included (irrespective of whether or not at a site): Little Eagle, Australian Hobby, White-throated Gerygone (3x), 2 Western Gerygone (in MFF), a single Varied Sittella (in MFF), 1 Horsfield’s Bronze Cuckoo (in MFF) and several Rufous Whistlers. The Restless Flycatcher is still present. Speckled Warbler were not recorded.
