For the past few years I have had Koels visiting my fig tree in Flynn up until the end of March. This year I had the occasional visit from the odd one or two, but figs were not ripe. Now the figs are ripe, but no Koels.
Therefore more figs for me :) So I was just outside eating a fig, and suddenly a lout squeal from just above my head. I looked up to see a juvenile Sparrowhawk a few feet from my head! It eventually flew off, and I subsequently heard Crested Pigeon wings
whirring, and Cockatoos squawking as it moved through the gardens.
But it does seem as though the Koels have departed earlier than usual this year???

I thought the Koels had moved on but one just flew over. Female or adolescent I don’t know. No calling since last weekend. |
