While we were in the garden yesterday afternoon, we were startled by the loud 
tearing sound made by fast-moving wings just above us, at or below roof height. 
A raptor (many sudden alarm calls made this apparent) had passed low through 
the garden at tremendous speed. I followed it as fast as I could to an open 
viewing spot and just glimpsed a large peregrine heading rapidly west over the 
roof tops. This is our second recent sighting.
