The amiable early-rising Bob Rusk was a source of information about birds at Kelly Swamp long before this chatline was thought of.
Before that, Doug Ross of Sprent Street was the Kelly-walker. That’s as far as my memory goes.
Turning to the newly-restored search facility, I find that ‘kelly’ is quite effective in bringing-up ‘Kelly’s’. On the first page of retrievals, the earliest reference I see is to a note by Steve Wilson: 11
Sharp-tailed Sandpipers on 29 August 1975. That issue contains an editorial of some historical interest (as so much of CBN is) - on ‘tick-hunting’.

Subject: [canberrabirds] Shoalhaven Heads - blast from the past for COG members
For those who knew him – Bob Rusk was encountered at the Inlet Shoalhaven Heads along with Milton Ulladulla Birding Group. There are too many named Cog Members to recount, but greetings are now given to all.
