I suggest this may be an opportunity to properly discuss with whatever authorities, the role of ICON and whether they should be a sponsor. What message is that sending, or is that to get them on board? Are they changing their attitude? Does ICON think that keeping their section closed, helps preserve the area? I don’t know. It would be nice to clarify. But sniping on the sidelines does not advance us much. I think we have a current precedent to maybe follow. North and South Korea are going to have a joint entry to the winter Olympics. How is that possible?

I don't think ICON Water are in favour of openness in any shape or form.

I am rather surprised that their sponsorship of this event was accepted given their very poor behaviour about the ponds.

I notice ICON Water is a sponsor.  Open day at the sewage ponds perhaps?  Or only in favour of openness in principle?

On the evening of Saturday 3 February, Jerrabomberra Wetlands will have an ‘Open Day’ from 4pm till 8pm.  COG will have a stall at that event, which commemorates World Wetlands Day.

I will coordinate COG’s effort and will be there for the whole session, but I am seeking assistance from members who would be willing to spare an hour or so between 3:30pm and 8:30 pm.

Assistance entails helping with setup if you come early, interacting with the public between 4pm and 8pm, or helping with packup if you prefer to be there at the end of the session.  It is an interesting thing to do and it is important that we showcase COG at every opportunity.    This link to the website: https://jerrabomberrawetlands.org.au/events/list/

If  you are not available on 3 February, but are willing to assist in the future, put Saturday 24 March 2018 in your diary, as we will be participating in the Connect and Participate (CAP) Expo on that day and will be seeking assistance for that as well.  More info closer to the day.  Here’s the hyperlink for that one:  http://www.communityservices.act.gov.au/wac/community/connect-and-participate-expo

If you would like more information about either of these events, please give me a call on 0412 788 791.

Yours sincerely

Lia Battisson
