A quick count of messages to your chatline for the 50 days of November and December so far gives a total of 300.

The answer to your question is:  koels 16 (although past the koel peak period).  ‘Other local species, up to 3 per message’, including photos, video, were 114.

I separated ‘species trend comments’(ducks etc)  -  13 (more would have been welcome, although this category is often introduced by a quick impression from a limited area).  Although, to be fair, the question is usually ‘Is this just a quick impression from a limited area?’

A category that seems to have declined is ‘location visits, including surveys’:  only 19.

Against that, ‘animals (non-birds)’  were 57, the numbers boosted by ‘me-toos (sometimes invited)’,  re eg foxes, flying and otherwise.

‘Out of area subjects’ were 20, reasonable enough I’d think, which is also my view of ‘external links and related comments ’  (20).

The remainder were organisational or technical (outings, equipment, books etc).
