There were a pair of Sacred Kingfishers yesterday morning sitting on power lines over the bike path around Lake B-G where it parallels Dairy Road between Sylvia Curley Bridge and the Jerrabomberra wetlands. There was only a single bird initially (silent when I first saw it), which after a couple of minutes started giving its kek-kek-kek call, and it was shortly thereafter joined by a second bird which joined in the calling. After another minute or so they flew off together in the direction of Duntroon.

I heard a Sacred Kingfisher in the woodland behind the Namadgi Visitors Centre this morning and also saw a Jacky Winter on a nest.  Photo of later will be posted on Canberra Nature Map tonight.
