What do crakes eat?

I have often been intrigued by the way crakes feed. They seem to be continually pecking but I have rarely seen them eat anything. Video I took recently at Lake Cargelligo showed them catching and swallowing food but the food is very small and it is eaten very quickly. The larger item, in the left picture, took half a second from capture to swallow while the smaller item, in the right picture, (the small black dot in the beak) took less than 0.16 seconds (4 video frames) to capture and swallow. No wonder it is hard to see what they eat.
