A single juvenile NNH has been behind my place in Ginninderra Creek on and off for a few months. During that time it has gradually morphed from juvenile plumage to adult plumage or almost so as I don’t get all that close and I mainly see it around dusk. If it is the same bird, then I suggest that once fully fledged and grown they lose their juvenile plumage within a few months.

I saw 3 birds this morning near Fulica hide, 1 adult and 2 immature? They have a black cap and plume but no rufous colour to it. I am just curious as to how old this bird may be?
