Oops even then I made a typing mistake.......... Who spotted it? Should be: eyes of a covey of quails

Fine. Yes I know (and more to the point, I think most readers would know) what is a covey and a coven............

Curiously Macbeth’s coven of witches did not include “eyes of a coven of quails” in their bubbling cauldron, to make that distinction – it was “eye of newt”, also an owlet’s wing as the only bird bit, among the long list of oddities.

BTW, forgot to say: a couple of wks ago I saw a covey [memo to Philip: not coven] of brown quail on the left hand side green verge as I was driving from Black Mtn peninsula towards Scrivener Dam, just before the Aboriginal cultural centre; I parked across on the wider opposite verge & went over for a look & flushed them twice. This sighting was an unusual treat for me.
