When I rode past on Saturday the fence was still up but the pond (Upper
Stranger Pond aka Isabella Lake) was full and back to its former drab self
devoid of waterbirds. I presume the carp eradication works have concluded and
the fence will be taken down shortly. In a recent newsletter for the project,
it stated that 2.6 tonnes of carp had been removed from this site. And that's
not including all the carp that the Egrets got to first!
Wetland construction work at the adjacent Isabella Pond continues with hundreds
of big grey concrete (?) blocks to be used in the creation of the wetlands on
site. Another 1.2 tonnes of carp has been reported to have been removed from
this site.
