Could you please circulate this photo among some COG birdos
I wonder if anyone has seen anything like this or got an explanation. (Sorry for the quality of the photo)
It is an elm leader. 1 leader on this tree and the trunk on an adjacent tree are like this. There was a wattle bird going from hole to hole and, I assume, feeding on sap. I have not determined if this bird did the damage
or if it was done by another (say a yellow tail black hunting out borers, although I feel it was a little too tidy for that). Other elms nearby were not affected.
Has anyone got any ideas?
