I had small numbers heard coming over home yesterday afternoon. At 5:45 around
sunset heard 2 very late individuals that after alighting briefly on the big
euc on their migration route dived down into a exotic tree in our front yard.
It remained there for about 6 minutes, and although they took off in the end, I
think they were planning to spend the night there had I not come along.
Today, as everyone seems to have noted, movement was much more noticeable with
flocks heard over Narrabundah college, Woden bus station, and Forde shops. In
about 30 minutes from 12:20pm, approx 270 YFHE purposefully moving SSE near the
western fenceline of Mulligan's. 2 of these flocks contained single white-naped
honeyeaters.
A Jacky Winter was also nice to to see.
