All the common bush birds in good numbers at Shepherd's Lookout this morning before the rain, inc several Scarlet Robins, but no raptors, or migrating Honeyeaters.
Interesting experience showing the variability of bird watching 'luck': I walked down into the dip from the car park at SL, and loitered there for 10 minutes seeing about 15 spp, I went back to the car to get a drink of water, and then
went back to the dip, I loitered there for another 10 minutes and saw 1 species (fairy wrens).
At Coppins Crossing there were 30-40 Yellow-faced Honeyeaters within 200m of the bridge, hanging around in trees, but not migrating. Also Striated Thornbills (not seen at SL), and, in the distance on the northern slopes above the crossing,
a Sparrowhawk (from size) chasing a compact flock of rapidly manoeuvring Starlings.
