I saw a flock of swifts over the Tuggeranong Town Centre at 4pm today.  It was difficult to count numbers as they were moving very fast and circling in groups at different altitudes, but my best guess is at least 50, possibly 100 or more.  After a couple of minutes they soared off in a northerly direction.  Without field glasses I couldn’t see markings or tail shape well, but style of flight seemed like White-throated Needletail, but honestly, could have been Fork-tailed Swift or a mix of both, who knows.  At the speed they were travelling, they could be anywhere now but probably worth having a look outside before dark, as there could be more.
