On Saturday morning a group of us observed a White-bellied Sea-Eagle
from the Black Wallaby Loop walk at Googong Dam. Initially the bird was
sitting as a bright-white dot in a tree on the eastern bank of the dam,
not far from the major dam wall, but it then flew low and slow above the
water and up the north-east arm of the dam. It had bright white
underparts and was dark across the wings, so it presumably was an adult.
A platypus was also observed in the Queanbeyan River at the picnic area
downstream of the dam wall.
