I note that Misery Hill has been renamed to honour Dr Barrer, who  ".....conducted the ecological mapping along the Molonglo River corridor, including the area of Misery Point and was a strong advocate for establishing and maintaining conservation corridors, now known as ‘connectivity conservation’.

How ironic.  Dr Barrer would turn in his grave if he saw how the Molonglo river corridor has been decimated!

I am surprised (not) that everyone
  • isn't fully across the Barrer hill Project; and
  • doesn't read every TAMS press release.
For those like me who don't have a clue about the broader project, and don't want to wait until April to find out,  this media thingie gives a flavour.

Yes Fleur, it’s part of a restoration project at the Molonglo River Reserve called the Barrer Hill BGW restoration.

I’ve arranged for the Ph D student involved, Darren Le Roux of the ANU’s Fenner School, to come and tell us about his project at the 12 April COG meeting.

Thanks Philip - I agree with you.  The arboretum is not there primarily for birds. Questions/opinions about the value of the arboretum would be better held on another platform such as the RiotAct.  Has someone actually tried to find out what those nesting boxes are for (the original question in this email trail)?
