One of my lifetime birding memories is from some years ago, sitting at the top of a dune on the beach at Mimosa Rocks, just North of Tathra, watching many Christmas beetles rising out of the Bitou Bush.   As they were 1 -2m above the vegetation White-throated Needletails swooped in at full speed and took them.  The noise of their flight was most impressive - as of course was the precision flying.

I can't remember how many swifts were involved but it was quite a lot.

This morning at the Jerra wetlands I watched a magpie feasting on the Christmas beetles. Swooping down, taking them off leaves as it flew by, perching briefly to get the beetles in right position, then swallowing them whole!

Wouldn’t it be good if most nestlings were fed koel chicks J.

Memories of childhood treats.  Most nestlings are fed high protein arthropods including koel chicks

Your surprise is shard.

The relevant - rather brief - section of HANZAB  commences with "Almost entirely native and introduced fruits, mainly figs"; occasionally take animal material."  The examples under Animals are adult beetles and Silvereyes.
