Subject: [canberrabirds] Unusual White-throated Treecreeper nest
This morning I found a pair of White-throated Treecreepers carrying food repeatedly into what seems to be an active wombat burrow. The two were very busy, going in and out several times as I watched. I have always thought these birds nests
in hollows, usually quite high up.
Kambah Pool car park is, as usual, a breeding hotspot. The eBird list I've just put in includes breeding records for the treecreepers, leaden flycatchers, white-throated gerygones, noisy friarbirds, magpies, white-browed scrubwrens, Willie
wagtail, black-faced cuckoo-shrike and satin bowerbird - all within 100m of the car park.
