History tells us Mozart had a pet Common Starling that could whistle several bars from one of his compositions. When the bird died Mozart organized a funeral with much theatrical ceremony and large guest attendance.

From a different aspect, I notice that several classical pieces appear to contain imitations of bird calls, in particular those of the European (or whatever it’s called) Cuckoo.
