Hi Susan
I have not seen nor heard a Pied Butcherbird in the Aranda bushland (or nearby) but, as you would know, the Grey Butcherbird is a regular breeding resident in the area.
Cheers

I think I’ve established now from other Chatline contributors that Pied Butcherbirds occur in the ACT. I’m now curious to know whether they have been recorded in Aranda Bushland because in the many years I lived
in Aranda I never saw Pied Butcherbirds there.

Susan - is the question whether Pied Butcherbirds are found in the ACT, or whether they have been recorded in Aranda Bushland?

This morning I met someone who lives in a house backing on to Aranda Bushland. She believes that there is a Pied Butcherbird there and, while I know about Grey Butcherbirds there I hadn’t seen Pied Butcherbirds there when we lived in Aranda.
Are Pied Butcherbirds living there? They are mentioned in the Field Guide to Birds of the ACT.
Cheers,
