It's an amazingly friendly bird. When I went this morning it immediately flew over to me, then jumped up on a post less than a metre away for a photo. After a conversation about how much it must be missing its friends, I wandered around the main pond - very
noisy because of 4 dogs in the water and their noisy owners. The coots, even the youngsters, didn't seem to mind.

Yesterday I went to look for the Apostlebird at North Watson pond. It was foraging on the mulched nature strip of no.15 and ambled up to me, very tame. We communed for a few minutes then I walked across the road and around to the other side of the pond,
and was admiring the coot family (still 5 youngsters) when the Apostlebird landed at my feet. After a while it moved off into the grass, then we both walked back across the road to the nature strip. No trouble from a Miner bird on the same patch. It looked
in good condition. Libby
