Not good news,  this bird which is a regular off our coast nests inland high up in mountains on the South Island of NZ behind Kaikoura.  There are two colonies up there plus a small man made one in Kaikoura.  

Looks like half of the largest colony has shipped away - there would be chicks in burrows now -  a bird already in trouble is in more trouble now.
