I have just returned from the annual visit to the Western Treatment Plant at Werribee. Interesting, in the way that each year’s differences are interesting. This year the Whiskered Terns were elsewhere. And
far fewer ducks, in fact less birds generally – only a smattering of Curlew Sandpipers and just the odd Sharp-tailed. However many stints. There are over 1000 in the below photo, taken early Tuesday morning.
On the matter of counting, there are more than 100 stints on the rocks at the right of the composite below. I have enlarged the pink rectangle and colour counted the birds within it, so far as visible. There
are more than 360.
