You may be aware that COG has been involved in the survey of landbirds on Lord Howe Island in September 2013, 2014 and 2016 and, if the project is approved, we will be surveying again in 2017.
The Public Environment Report (PER) for the proposed Lord Howe Island Rodent Eradication Project is now on Public Exhibition. The PER is a part of the Australian Government Minister for the Environment and Energy’s
approval process under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act). COG’s involvement is noted on page 42.
The EPBC Act has a statutory public comment period of 20 business days which will run until
COB Friday 2 Dec.

I urge you to make a public submission on the project either in a professional or personal capacity. Note the submission will need to link to the EPBC jurisdiction (i.e. World Heritage values, Listed threatened
or migratory species but can also cover social economic and human health )
