COG members may like to consider the position of candidates in relation to development within the Murrumbidgee River Corridor in Tuggeranong.

The Save the Murrumbidgee River Corridor Community Group has published a summary of candidate positions at: https://www.facebook.com/SavetheMurrumbidgeeCorridor/posts/311372032578348:0

COG has previously stated their concerns about the impacts such a development would have on a major river corridor system, and its functionality and habitat for birds and other biodiversity.  There have been around 130 species of birds recorded in the area, including in the adjacent river corridor reserve and on the edges of the town centre, but this could be an underestimate.  Two species, the Regent Honeyeater and the Swift Parrot, which use feed trees on the edge of the proposed development area are listed under the Commonwealth Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act.  COG has also expressed concern about the loss of habitat for the Scarlet Robin, which is regularly recorded in the area.
