I had a look at my photos too and I think Con may be right. 
When fanned, the tail looked fine at the time, albeit a bit tattered towards the end.
When folded, however, all the tail feathers overlap perfectly into 1 neat strip.
It appears to have 6 tail feathers. Photos from above and below of the tail when it is fanned seem to show no feathers to the left of the top most tail feather.
Comparing this with other images online, it seems it is definitely missing about half of the tail feathers.
I have attached two of my images showing the tail both folded (from above) and fanned (below).
