The attached image is of a male bird which was at MFNR yesterday. Note
the grey area on the bird's head. Another male bird image taken in a
different place at Mullies lacked the extended grey patch. Looking back
through some of my images from previous years, I noticed that at least
one of the images of a White-throated Gerygone I had taken at Campbell
Park had a similar grey patch. So, on a limited sample, some male birds
do have the grey patch extending well beyond the lores but others do
not. The male at Mullies was singing the classic White-throated Gergyone
song.
