Good afternoon all,
After speaking with several people and considering the weather forecast for later this week, I have reluctantly decided to call the long weekend visit to Buddigower NR
OFF
. I feel that the chances of people getting stuck trying to get in to, and out of, the reserve is just too big a chance to take. I have asked Sue Lashko to reschedule the banding trip for the same long weekend in 2017. If people are
really keen to see banding in operation please get back to me and I will advise you when I will next be banding in the area, in mid November.
Apparently Temora, which is still quite some distance from Buddigower, received 75mm of rain on one day, and all paddocks in some areas are under water, and roads have been closed. From what I can gather this has been the 3rd
wettest year on record in the region. From reports in newspapers Lake Cowal is full, for the first time since the 1970’s. Members of the banding team had to abandon the September banding trip to The Charcoal Tank NR, our normal banding site, due to flooding
in the reserve – it is an easier site to get into than Buddigower which is about 7 km further down the Charcoal Tank road.
Cheers,
Mark
