Subject: [canberrabirds] radio tracked Latham's Snipe

The Latham’s Snipe ( # 158873) that left Japan on the 9th September appears to have arrived on the northern shore of Irian Jaya having travelled non-stop over the sea. Will this bird now stop and refuel or will it continue its journey to Australia?

This bird is not only telling us the route taken but also that Latham’s Snipe are still making their way to our shores.

Chris
