They very occasionally come to my bird feeder with the Red-browed and Double-barred finches. I do not know where to find them otherwise, not at the moment, but the people in the second last  (southern) of the Kangaroo close houses have seen them more than I do in their bird feeder which is close to thick cover but I don’t know if they have seen them this year. I will ask them. In previous years when disturbed they flew to the little nearby thicket which has always been a good site for little birds. But I have not seen them there lately. I will make a point of looking for them and let you know if I succeed.

I would be very interested to know of a reliable spot for Diamond Firetails these days.  By ‘reliable’ I mean no guarantee but that they’re more likely than not to be found after say 3 visits.  In past years I’ve found them at Callum Brae, East O’Malley, the Newline paddock, and even at the Campbell Park horse crossing, but I wouldn’t regard those spots as ‘reliable’ at the present time.  Perhaps the species is never locally reliable unless there’s a nesting territory.   gd
