Morning all,
I have just finished doing the surveys for Latham’s Snipe on the two McKellar ponds. Any self respecting snipe would have turned around and headed back to Japan given this morning’s weather - cold, windy and occasional drizzle – so none
were recorded! The only real things of interest was a Black Swan on a nest on the small pond and a possible nest on the large pond given the behaviour of a male who took a keen interest in me. There were at least 8 Red-rumped Parrots investigating holes in
one or two of the logs placed in the small pond and a single Golden-headed Cisticola, also on the small pond. Both ponds were very quiet in comparison to previous surveys I have carried out on them. Eurasian Coots in particular were very thin on the ground.
COG record sheets will be filled in.
