I believe that every year for the past more than 30, someone has given a
talk to COG usually at the June meeting, marking the start of each new
year's GBS. Some people during the few years I (mainly) complied the ABR
complained (with fair basis) that the ABR was too focussed on the GBS.
Perhaps because it was well promoted (initially by the hard to imitate (Ian)
McComas Taylor).
Now I read that "Since the COG Data entry portal has closed, eBird has
become one of the main conduits for our data collection" and can only say,
sorry but to me ebird is 5 letters that don't go together nor mean much to
me. If that is the case, isn't it about time that someone explained
ebird......

To: Canberrabirds Subject: [canberrabirds] Your records and the Annual
Bird Report
Hello everyone
It is time for all birders to make sure their records are in their database
of choice, to ensure they are included in the COG 2015-16 Annual Bird
Report.
Would you please check to see that all your records for the last financial
year are submitted through the usual channels, either paper based or
electronic.
Last year we were quite a bit behind schedule in the production of the ABR,
mainly because we were a bit late in collating all the data.
This year we want to do better, so all those involved in compiling the ABR
would appreciate your cooperation in getting all the records in early.
Since the COG Data entry portal has closed, eBird has become one of the main
conduits for our data collection.
If you have any problems delays in entering data, please let me know.
Warm regards
Paul
