And sugar gliders have recently been found to be significant predators of nesting birds in some places.

With sugar gliders by far the most common item in the diet of Turner’s powerful owl (it had one last Thursday and another on Friday), there must be, or have been, a lot of them around Canberra. I’d certainly like to see Matthew’s film.

Matthew Higgins here.  COG members might be interested in my short doco ‘The little aerialists of Ainslie’ about Mt Ainslie’s sugar gliders, made in 2004.  It was screened in various film festivals and I’d be happy to screen it at a COG meeting some time.

Cheers

Matthew

Folks

Our esteemed colleague John Bundock has documented lots of Sugar Gliders in various states of dismemberment in the claws of our local Powerful Owl. Poor things!!   Viewers might like to see some very live ones feeding on blossom - filmed recently by me

Enjoy
